BONE BROTH BBQ SAUCE


Barbecue season is in full swing! However we skip the highly processed sugary barbecue sauces from the store and make our own using these nourishing ingredients. Give it a try it doesn’t take that much longer but your tummy and body will thank you later



BONE BROTH BBQ SAUCE


What You Need:

1slice bacon 

1/2 onion, grated

1 cup Grassfed bone broth

1/4 cup tomato paste

2 tbsp spicy brown mustard

3 tbsp maple syrup

2 tsp apple cider vinegar

1 tsp smoked paprika

Sea salt and black pepper, to taste

1 tbsp garlic powder (optional)

1/8 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions:

Saute bacon in a saucepan over medium-high until crisp. Remove and drain on a paper towel.  

In the same pan you used to cook the bacon, add onion and saute on medium heat for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Stir in tomato paste, mustard, maple syrup, garlic powder, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, salt and pepper, and cayenne. Blend. Pour in bone broth and whisk. 

Chop up the bacon and stir it into the sauce. Bring the sauce to a boil and then lower the heat. Simmer for 30-40 minutes until sauce becomes slightly thickened, reduced to 3/4 cup. Enjoy!
